About Us

Our story begins like many others, as a kid, standing on a step stool, covered in flour, licking a batter covered spoon.

Our kitchen like many other family’s is the heart of our home. Many hours of our childhood were spent in my mom’s kitchen. We rarely ate out growing up because our mom was such a great cook! She taught us the basics of cooking. How to boil water, how to correctly measure flour, the difference between liquid and dry measuring cups, and how to take care of a cast iron skillet.

Our love of cooking was fostered by our mom! She could make the best brown gravy in three counties, could bake you a birthday cake better than any that came from a grocery store, and was asked to always bring the coleslaw to any event. It doesn't stop there, we come from a long line of great cooks. Our granny was always trying new recipes for the church luncheons. Our great Grandmother Ford made the best apple butter, and the last jars from the cellar were like gold. Unfortunately, she passed away before anyone learned the recipe. It was heartbreaking to scrape the last few morsels out of that mason jar.

The loss of those precious recipes is what we hope to end. Our goal at Two Chicks and a Steak Knife is to get people back in the kitchen with their family members, learn those beloved recipes and to enjoy the memories being made in the process.
